To meet a range of industrial spot cooling and process cooling needs, vortex tubes may provide refrigeration at temperatures as low as -40 degrees Celsius and up to 6000 BTU/hr (1757 watts). A vortex tube has no moving components, is very affordable, and doesn't need an electrical connection at the cooling location. It is also quite dependable. Because compressed air spins inside the tube to create streams of hot and cold air, vortex tubes provide immediate cooling.

With variants ranging from 6 to 13 inches (150 to 330 mm) long and cooling capacities from 100 to 6000 BTU/hour (29 to 1757 watts), vortex tubes are a portable source of refrigeration and cooling. Performance of a vortex tube can be readily altered by adjusting the generator within the tube, the ratio of cool air to exhaust, or the inlet air pressure. In addition, vortex tubes can be used for heating purposes by simply directing the hot air exhaust toward the desired location. Normally, vortex tubes are utilized for cooling purposes.
